Picture these two scenarios:

1. You are starting and/or growing your own business. You need to let your potential customers know that you're there to serve them. If you have employees, you need to be able to effectively communicate with them. If you have other investors, such as venture capitalists, you need to let them know how their investment is doing. But writing and other communications skills are not your strength.
